Rwanda’s nuclear move and other signals

🤞 Howdy, disruptors!

Remember when I said the ordinary life isn’t for me? Well, buckle up because we’re about to dive into some seriously juicy stuff here. Now you’re probably thinking, “Tonny, last time I checked, this wasn’t Ground News or BBC!” Well, start your own newsletter because here I do what I want 😂. Jokes aside, my life’s been a little boring these weeks, but the world? Not so much. So sit back and relax as I rant about my biggest ponders of the week.

💥 Rwanda’s Going Nuclear (No, Not Like That)

My thoughts aren’t mixed here. Simply put, Rwanda just inked a deal with Russia to build a nuclear power plant. Yeah, you read that right. A country smaller than New Jersey is about to join the nuclear club. Let’s break this down:

  1. Energy Flex: While some African countries are struggling to keep the lights on, Rwanda’s out here playing chess in 5D.
  2. Big Brain Time: This isn’t just a power plant – it’s a whole nuclear research center. I can only imagine Rwanda becoming the go-to spot for MIT research grads!
  3. Leapfrog Tech: While other African countries are out there ranting about solar vs. wind debates, Rwanda’s going straight for the nuclear jugular. It’s like going from no phone to an iPhone 16 Pro Max.

“Tonny, isn’t this risky?” Hell yeah. But as they say, high risk, high reward. If they pull this off, we might be looking at the Singapore of Africa in 15 years.

The Million Dollar Question: Can they do it without everything going sideways? 🤔 They’ve done it before, so… Well, let’s stay positive here, okay?

Your Homework: - What’s the “nuclear move” in your industry that everyone thinks is crazy? - Who’s the unexpected partner that could help you pull it off? - How can you leapfrog instead of just keeping up?

Remember: “The ordinary life isn’t for Rwanda, and it shouldn’t be for you either.”

🎥 MrBeast’s Leaked Memo: The Secret Sauce

You’ve probably seen threads about MrBeast’s leaked memo. Here’s my take (and trust me, I’ve binged ALL his videos):

I don’t think Jimmy understands the word “impossible”. No matter how big or crazy the idea, he operates under the assumption that it’s doable. When launching his chocolate brand, he didn’t just post a video saying “hey guys, check out my new chocolate bar!” Instead, he built an entire chocolate factory mimicking Willy Wonka, with an actual chocolate river. In a brainstorm, this sounds somewhere between “insane” and “impossible” to do.

  • Here’s what Jimmy wrote about going viral:
  • But one of MrBeast’s core principles is the ‘wow factor’.

The video starts with him dropping the house into the circle using a giant crane. And halfway thru the video, he took a GIANT SAW and cut the house in half.

These weren’t ‘necessary’, in fact, they’re nuts. If you had a CFO in charge, they would immediately cut these unnecessary risks and expenses.

But he knows the ‘wow factor’ matters.

My friend George Mack says “only the weird behaviors get remembered”.

What he means is that – if you want to build a reputation, you have to do what others don’t & won’t, in situations where you didn’t have to.

— OK, enough chit chat. Go read the doc. Thank me later.

📱 iPhone 15 vs iPhone 16: Yawn or Dawn?

Apple just dropped the iPhone 16, and… well, let’s just say they’re really milking that Action Button. Here’s the rundown:

  • Smarter notifications (because we definitely needed more of those)
  • Slightly better battery life (revolutionary, I know)
  • Apple Intelligence (Siri’s glow-up we’ve been waiting for?)

Look, I love Apple, but this feels like they hit the snooze button on innovation.

🎬 The Wrap-Up

That’s it for this week’s Sunday Scoop.

Remember:

1. Take the nuclear option (figuratively, please)

2. Add some unnecessary ‘wow’ to your work

3. Don’t hit snooze on innovation

Now go out there and make some waves. And hey, if you’ve made it this far, treat yourself to a Fanta. You’ve earned it! 🥤

Catch you next Sunday! 🚀
