Out of 120+ hours of constant learning and experience, only 6 takeaways deservers your attention.
Here’s this weeks starting lineup:
So as they say don’t try to re-invent the wheel, if it works there’s a reason, last week i headed out into the wild with only one mission:
Study the GREATS and learn why them? Out of 2,781 billionaires, I chose to study Elon Musk. Here’s why:
- Richest guy in the world
- Most famous founder (200+ million followers on X, $300+ billion net worth)
- Badass - unafraid to tackle the biggest, hardest problems (humans on Mars, electric cars, robotaxis… a Star Wars fan’s dream!)
So what did I learn?
Chapati #1: First Principles Thinking
Forget the numbers. Focus on WHAT, not HOW MANY people have tried
Elon has the superpower to ignore conventional wisdom. He reasons from the ground up based on facts. When everyone said battery packs were expensive and impossible to scale, Elon showed how his resourcefulness is unmatched
My plan:
- Double down on being supper intelligent and hard working
- be crazy ambitious and believe in what am trying to do.
Chapati #2: Dream big, Insanely BIGG
In the past 5 years alone, Elon has:
- Accelerated EV by +15 years
- Sent +400 rockets to space
- Increased AI Compute Power by 500% (Founded OpenAI - parent company of ChatGPT)
Elon always imagines all projects as civilization-level endeavors, explaining the burning fire behind his 120+ hours workweek
My plan?
- GET ONE THING DONE EVERY SINGE DAY (or don’t sleep at all)
In the past 5 years, I’ve:
- Created 12+ Projects (replicas of Slack, Green Hub, ChatApp, etc.) https://github.com/irachrist1?tab=repositories
- Passed a national exam and landed a job 3 weeks later
- Won 5+ Competitions
Chapati #3: Become obsessed with systems
Elon sees life as intertwined with technology. He even described his children as “computers” (yikes, but also… interesting?).
Elon’s 5-step process for optimizing any system:
- Avoid the big mistake: Don’t optimize what shouldn’t exist - The most common error of a smart engineer is to try optimize the thing that should not exist.
- Question the requirements: it doesn’t matter who gave them to you, it’s particularly dangerous if a smart person gave you the requirements because you might not question them enough
- Remove the unnecessary process steps: try very hard to delete the part of the process, if you are not occasionally adding things back in, you are not deleting enough. the bias tends to be very strongly towards: let’s add this part of the process in case we need it but you can basically make in case arguments for so many things.
- Simplify or optimize (only after steps 1-3)
- Accelerate time to learning: you’re moving too slowly, go faster but don’t go unless you have worked on the other three things first
- Automate (but only after the other steps)
Chapati #4: Live life like it’s a video game.
- No need to protect your identity
- No fear of the opinion of others
All great people (like Elon) live life like a video game and “stay hungry, and foolish” at all times.
Chapati #5 Your Daily Mantra
Take this and re-read every morning
- First Principles Thinking.
- Dream big. Insanely big
- Create a mission-driven culture.
- Become obsessed with systems.
- Live life like it’s a video game.
That’s all for this week, disruptors! As a wise man once said: “we’re not just playing the game - we’re here to change it”. Stay hungry, stay foolish, and most importantly, stay safe! Marburg is real
