It's not even a matter of what industry we are talking about; you will hear it everywhere if you are on the internet. These days, technology is ubiquitous – from cosmetics to family therapy and even dating apps 🤯. But today, I'm not suddenly Mr. sexy, So let's rewind a bit and talk about things I care and understand: Advancements 🥳. Over the last couple of weeks, we've heard or seen big players like Apple, Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Nvidia releasing what they claim to be a new wave of AI for everyone, But is it really? Well to find out, I'm attempting to catch you up on everything Events, keynotes in less than a 3-minute read, and afterward, I'll share a project that I think will revolutionize taxation for average Joe.
1. Apple
Apple’s latest event showcased AI integration across iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Highlights included: - iOS 18 and macOS updates:
- New AI features and enhanced productivity tools.
- Siri advancements now integrated with ChatGPT
- Smarter and more integrated with your iPhone.
- Privacy focused AI: Apple promising to Build AI on device, and Elon musk threating to bun apple devices in his companies once that happens.

2. Microsoft
Microsoft diving deep into AI again now with:
- AI chips: For advanced processing and secure data handling.
- Private cloud system: For sensitive data.
- Active recall feature: Processes data from various sources.
- ChatGPT integration: Across Microsoft platforms from Excel, PowerPoint to Word and Paint. (Yeah Microsoft Paint 😉)
3. Google
Google launched Gemini 1.5 with:
- AI-powered search: Integrated into various apps and devices.
- Meeting summarization: AI that can summarize your meetings.
- Language support: Now includes over 40 languages, including Kiswahili and Bantu.
- Paid AI subscription: For enhanced features, though some are region-specific and age-restricted.
4. Nvidia
Nvidia, the fastest-growing and most valuable company, is:
- Developing AI chips: Investing Trillions in AI hardware.
- Focusing on software: Emphasizing software for AI model training.
- Leading in AI: With significant contributions to AI advancements.
Just so you know, there are reports that OpenAI supposedly possesses around 10 million GPUs, which would be valued at over 100 billion dollars.
Tools and Advancements
- AI in search engines: Enhancing search, camera capabilities, and voice assistants.
- AI-powered tools: Such as Magic Editor, Best Take, and Apple Audio enhancers.
- AI laptops: Offering smarter computing, live translated subtitles, and game upscaling. (Asus, Microsoft Surface, etc.)
- Notion AI and Google’s NotebookLM: Generate content and insights from your data (Publicly Available).
- AI platforms: Microsoft Copilot, Cogram.ai, Vic.ai, and Docyt for various applications operations.

- IndabaX Hackathon: Participated at a deep learning hackathon at Norrsken which aimed to use a new BERT model using RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) to train and run in Kinyarwanda NLP.
- Hit Video: In this week's Elab challenge, we went deep in the villages to help families in need and the video is out.
- Project RRARAG: Launched an LLM trained on RRA data, responding in Kinyarwanda with voice. Check it out on our website or Telegram bot.
