Big ideas for 2025

Howdy!

2024 was the year of AI, packed with surprises and big lessons. As we head into 2025, I’m excited about some bold ideas that could change how we live, work, and innovate. Here are 10 big ideas for the future:

  1. Nuclear Energy Makes a Comeback The demand for nuclear energy is growing again, thanks to the need for clean, reliable power—especially for energy-hungry AI data centers. With new regulations, public support, and big investments, 2025 could be the year we see new nuclear plants starting up and potentially one in Rwanda.
  2. Jobs That Mix Hardware and Software Robots and AI are going beyond screens into real-world industries like factories and water treatment. This means jobs like mechanical engineers and robot operators will be in high demand. These are the people who’ll make AI work in the real world.
  3. Space Gets Even Cooler SpaceX’s Starship is changing the game with reusable rockets. In 2025, we might see data centers in orbit, faster cargo transport across the planet, and even steps toward living on the Moon or Mars.
  4. AI on the Battlefield In the future, military decisions might be made by AI systems and drones on the ground instead of waiting for instructions. This will make defense faster and more efficient—but it’ll also need better tech to stay ahead of rivals.
  5. XR Goes Mainstream Devices like Apple’s Vision Pro could finally make extended reality (XR) useful for everyone, not just developers. By 2025, we could see XR being used in offices, robotics, and even everyday life in exciting ways.
  6. Satellites That Solve Problems There are over 1,000 satellites watching Earth right now, and they could do more than just take pictures. Imagine them helping first responders, fixing supply chain problems, or even improving cities. The real value of this data is just starting to show.
  7. Smarter Robots Need Smarter Data Robots are learning how to work in all kinds of industries, and they need tons of data to get better. In 2025, we’ll see better ways to collect and use this data, paving the way for robots that can handle more jobs.
  8. Better Bandwidth with Lasers Free-space optical communication (basically lasers) could bring faster and more reliable internet. This tech could make satellite communications and even defense systems way better in the coming years.
  9. AI in Space Labs Space labs could change industries like medicine and manufacturing. In microgravity, we might be able to 3D print organs or create materials we can’t make on Earth. AI will play a huge role in these breakthroughs.
  10. The AI Energy Problem AI uses a lot of power, and our current grids can’t keep up. In 2025, expect big investments in renewable energy, advanced batteries, and other solutions to keep up with the growing demand.

These ideas are bold and exciting. Which one gets you fired up the most? Hit reply and let me know—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
